It's unlikely that you'll get upgraded to ANA business class for free. However, if you have Star Alliance partner miles and are traveling in economy or premium economy, it's possible to upgrade to business class.

While efforts have been made to reduce the queues at the check-in desks with the facilities for mobile and self-service check-in, there can still be a long wait at security screening and copyright control.

Much bigger and more legroom (not that it matters) and a much bigger footwell I imagine for sleeping on a wider bed. But agree that first class is not that different to business hard product wise.

Boarding was quick and efficient, with ANA finishing the process in about 20 minutes. The downside to the hurried embarkation is the lack of a pre-flight drink, though the flight attendants appeared with a tray of either orange juice or sparkling wine soon after take-off.

The lounge is arranged in a long, narrow rectangle. There are various seating options, with plenty of counter space for those looking to work. There are great views of the international gates and domestic terminal in the background.

It's another nice, thoughtful touch that will help stay connected depending on which direction you lay down or recline.

Regardless of which business-class product you experience on ANA, expect kind and attentive Japanese hospitality, tasty food, and spotless cabins; if you get The Room, it'll just be icing on the cake.
